FIELD WEEKEND
JULY 21/22
After last years successful weekend, we are doing it all over again, The trusty 1000Mp along with other equipment will be available for everyone to use. This event is ideal for Foundation and Intermediate operators to operate at higher power than they would normally be able to using the G3CO club callsign.
Interested? Then please contact any of the committee for details and location. See You There.

Fancy trying a contest?
Why not try taking part in one of the AFS  or Club Contests throughout the year and help score points for the club.
Next: 80m CC  is SSB June 28th.
See the left hand column for details.

FIFA WORLD CUP EVENT

If you have not yet been made aware of the FIFA World Cup Marathon then please read this message that introduces this activation event. The marathon started at 00:00 UTC on Friday 1 June and finishes at 14:00 UTC on Sunday 15 July. The Russians are having 32 stations with the prefix R18, to represent each of the 32 participating counties (R18ENG being for England), another 11 stations with the prefix RC18 to represent the host Russian cities (RC18MO for Moscow, etc.)

Bands are: 160m, 80m, 40m, 30m, 20m, 17m, 15m, 12m, 10m, 6m, 2m, 70 cms

Modes are: CW, Phone, Digital (FT8 may be used but some callsigns are too long for this apparently).

There are three categories of award available for working the special World Cup stations:

Football 2018 – Radio Marathon – awards for quantities of QSOs with any special stations: Bronze 100, Silver 250 & Gold 500

Football 2018 – an award for working 40 of the participating qualifying and non-qualifying FIFA countries – each country counts once only, any band, any mode

Football 2018 – Participant - an award for working 25 of the participating qualifying and non-qualifying FIFA countries – each country counts once only, any band, any mode

This is basically a seaching game and will keep the bands busy for six weeks. All awards will be calculated from the logs submitted by the special stations and certificates will be made available electronically.
